Survival International

Survival International helps tribal peoples around the world "defend their lives, protect their lands, and determine their own futures."  Its holiday cards include wonderful images of Siberia and Canada by veteran Arctic photographers Bryan and Cherry Alexander.

Since its founding in 1969 in response to violence against tribes in the Brazilian Amazon, Survival has "persuaded governments to recognize tribal land ownership, forced companies to abandon harmful projects on tribal land, and helped draw the eyes of the world to the issues tribal people face."

The cards say "Season's Greetings" in English and Spanish; 70% of the card price supports Survival's work.

Washington National Cathedral

The 5.8 magnitude earthquake on August 23rd significantly damaged Washington's National Cathedral.  Decorative stonework fell and other parts of the building cracked; repairs are estimated to cost millions of dollars.

Buying the Cathedral's Christmas cards will help support the restoration effort.  These two cards are images of windows in the Cathedral.

Gloria in Excelsis Angels
The Cathedral of course also welcomes donations to help restore the building.

The Morgan Library & Museum

Adoration of the Magi by Jean Poyer
from the Hours of Henry VII
The Morgan Library & Museum
As you'd expect, New York City's Morgan Library & Museum's holiday cards include sumptuous images from classic books, botanical prints, and illuminated manuscripts.

I think this Winterberry image is beautiful.  (I'd like it even better on slightly heavier stock, and with a holiday message (it's blank), but, well, life isn't perfect.  You could take it to a printer to have your message added inside.)

The Pine Tree Society, which helps Maine children and adults with disabilities, has posted its new holiday cards.  Among the Society's many great programs is Pine Tree Camp, which allows 700 campers to enjoy kayaking, swimming, fishing, boating, and many other traditional Maine summer activities in a barrier-free environment.

Holiday card sales are an important source of income for the Society, so please take a look at the two new designs that local artists have created.
